My favourite animal πŸ’“

Image
I love cats and dogs! But my favourite animal is the... PIG !                                              Why?  Because they are so lovely and so smart! Pigs are one of the most valuable animals used in medical research, because their organs are very similar to human beings. And Pigs saved millions of people because the first Insulin came mainly from pigs and it was used for many years to treat diabetes!  Domestic pigs are very intelligent and social animals!  Yes, they cover themselves with mud from head to toe , but that's because they use it as a sunscreen or to keep the parasites away! Clever, ha?!                            🐽 Do you have a favourite animal? Which one? Why? 🐽 Have you ever seen the film BABE ? 🐽 Watch this following video with my beloved Miss Piggy.   ...

😍 Glimpses of England 🌹

I remember my first time in London! Perfectly!  😍 I was so excited!  I was finally going to visit and see all the famous places I had read and heard about and watched on tv as I grew up! I felt head over heels when I had my first glimpse   πŸ‘€ of  a r ed double-decker bus...  a black taxi... Piccadilly Circus...  πŸ˜€ I was with an English friend, then, and I told him I wanted to go everywhere, at once, but he asked me to 'calm down' because it was Mission Impossible !  πŸ˜‰ First, London is a very, very big city! "And, Sandra", he told me, " most important  of all, enjoy every second in London to the fullest"!  He was right. Have you ever been abroad?  In London or to any other foreign city? What was your experience like? How did you feel? Let us know, please!

🎡 Treat people with Kindness πŸ₯°

" Without music, life would be a mistake . "                                  ( Friedrich Nietzsche, a German philosopher- 1844/ 1900) The British have always been famous for their Music !                                  They are really great at it! I'm sure we don't like every song in English and we all have different tastes, naturally, but one should always give it a try before saying "No, I don't like it". Just do it! πŸ˜‰  πŸŽΆ So, tell me what your opinion ...

And by culture I mean their way of life, their music, literature, art, theatre, gastronomy, TV and cinema, their general customs, traditions and accents!  So, everything that makes any country a unique and special nation! Also, I πŸ’˜ English  because it connects people all around the world!  The English language is 'the link' you need to travel and communicate worldwide !   - As a reminder , let's watch this short video.   - Then, I invite you to write a comment on it!

The Lollipoplady

Image
Finally! πŸ˜‰ Here's the answer:   A lollipoplady is a woman who helps children to cross the road near a school.  She stands in the middle of the road and holds up a stick with a round sign on it that means the traffic must stop. This sign resembles a lollipop!  So that's where the name comes from!               And at the end of every school term, the Lollipoplady gives real lollipops to all the children!                                                 The first woman doing this job was Mary Hunt, in 1937. She lived in Bath, England. Nowadays we can find lollipopladies in The United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia. This is the Lollipoplady I met when I lived in England, in a place near Windsor (20 minutes from London).  I worked as an au pair:  I lived with an English family and looked after their 3 child...

Lollipop who?!?

When I lived in England, after graduating, I discovered a new very British job: the lollipop lady . I had never seen one before... and I had no idea this profession even existed! But, there she was, so helpful and kind to school children!   Have you ever seen one?   In This Lollipop Lady blog you can find out a lot about English speaking countries culture and traditions! Let's do it together! πŸ’—

Knock knock! Who´s there? Lollipop Lady. Lollipop WHO ?
