The Lollipoplady

Finally! πŸ˜‰ Here's the answer:

A lollipoplady is a woman who helps children to cross the road near a school.
She stands in the middle of the road and holds up a stick with a round sign on it that means the traffic must stop.
This sign resembles a lollipop! So that's where the name comes from!
And at the end of every school term, the Lollipoplady gives real lollipops to all the children!

The first woman doing this job was Mary Hunt, in 1937. She lived in Bath, England. Nowadays we can find lollipopladies in The United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia.

This is the Lollipoplady I met when I lived in England, in a place near Windsor (20 minutes from London).
I worked as an au pair: I lived with an English family and looked after their 3 children. The ones in the photo on the right: Rosanna, Jessica and Oliver! Here, they were going to primary school!
  • Can you tell me what they are wearing?
Now, let me invite you to watch the video below.
  • Can you guess why I chose it?
  • Is there a job like this in your country?

That's why I love the lollipopladies! πŸ’™
They make it possible and easier for children to go to a place where they can learn, play and dream!
